Volume tomography

Digital volume tomography (DVT) is a three-dimensional imaging procedure based on X-rays that is primarily used in ENT medicine, oral and maxillofacial surgery and dentistry.

Areas of application:

  • Implant planning

  • Exact localization of displaced, impacted or wisdom teeth

  • Visualization of inflammatory bony changes in the area of the tooth roots and for planning apicoectomies

  • Visualization of the inside of the tooth (endodont) and the root canals

  • Diagnosis of dental injuries

  • Assessment of the periodontium for periodontal treatments

  • Superimposition-free visualization of tooth number and shape anomalies prior to orthodontic treatment

  • Visualization of the temporomandibular joints, e.g. for osteoarthritis
