Braces / Pediatric dentistry
Children need a lot of attention so that they can build up trust and accept necessary treatments. The first visits to the dentist should be as anxiety-free, stress-free and painless as possible. It is very important to us that your child feels well looked after at all times.
Our practice offers the entire spectrum of modern and classic orthodontic treatments. In holistic orthodontics, we look at the person as a whole, which has a positive effect on the success of treatment. The focus is on less pain, shorter sessions, reduced tooth extractions and the co-treatment of whole-body asymmetries.
Braces
Braces are orthodontic appliances used to correct misaligned teeth and jaws. It has proven to be a good idea to treat the first malocclusions in the primary dentition from the age of 4 in order to prevent maldevelopment of the jaw. Removable active plates and functional orthodontic appliances support jaw growth and stabilize it during the eruption of permanent teeth. The fine adjustment and correction of crowding in the permanent dentition is usually carried out with fixed appliances (brackets). Finally, the result is stabilized with retention devices. The fitting, insertion and, if necessary, readjustment of the braces is carried out by our orthodontic specialists.
Which type of braces is the right one?
Which type of braces is suitable for you depends primarily on the type of malocclusion. The decisive factor is whether there is a bite deviation, crowding or teeth are displaced or missing. Age and aesthetic requirements also play an important role in the choice. As children and adolescents are still growing in their primary and mixed dentition, removable braces are used more frequently. Fixed braces are usually used for adults.
Different types of braces to correct misalignments
There are removable braces for growing children and adolescents that specifically influence and regulate jaw growth. Fixed appliances are also used, in which brackets are attached to the teeth with a special adhesive. These are used to precisely correct the position of the teeth, whereby the teeth are moved into the desired position using biomechanical wires.
The invisible braces: Aligners
In order to meet high aesthetic demands, both removable and fixed braces are available in inconspicuous to almost invisible versions.
Aligner therapy is an orthodontic method for the almost invisible correction of slight misaligned teeth. Individually manufactured, thin and transparent plastic splints are used. These removable aligners are barely visible in everyday life, can be easily removed for eating and brushing teeth and have much less of an impact on speech than conventional braces.
