Endodontology / root canal treatment
The first root canal treatment usually takes place in one or two sessions and involves several steps. For pain-free treatment, the tooth is usually anesthetized locally. The dental crown is then opened and the pulp chamber cleaned.
The root canals are then opened and dilated with fine instruments to enable thorough cleaning and disinfection of the entire canal system. Optical magnification aids such as magnifying glasses or surgical microscopes help to precisely recognize and treat the complex and branched structure of the root canals.
The root canal system is carefully cleaned, disinfected and shaped under visual control. The resulting cavity is then filled with a dense, plastic material. Finally, the tooth crown is sealed so that it is bacteria-proof, so that the tooth can be built up in a stable manner or, as a rule, restored with a crown.
